Braves pitcher Jaime Garcia has made history with his grand slam Friday night and a win over the Dodgers in Los Angeles.
He became the second Atlanta Braves pitcher to hit a grand slam in the history of the franchise. The last pitcher to accomplish this was Tony Cloninger in July of 1966.
Garcia is also the fifth Braves pitcher to hit a grand slam since 1900, in a league with Cloninger (’66), Burdette (’58) and Ferguson (’10) and Flaherty in 1907.
Along with these notable accomplishments, Jaime Garcia is the fourth Atlanta pitcher to drive in at least four runs in one game, being the first since Phil Niekro in 1979, as well as in 1976, with Ron Reed (4 RBI’s) in 1973 and Cloninger twice in 1966.
